Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

Purpose

In line with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and the UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2015, Sunder T.T. College has constituted an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to provide a safe, respectful, and gender-sensitive environment for all students, faculty, and staff at the College. The ICC aims to prevent, prohibit, and address complaints of sexual harassment and to ensure a fair and confidential redressal mechanism.

Objectives

  • Ensure zero tolerance towards sexual harassment in any form.
  • Provide a safe and confidential platform to register complaints.
  • Conduct fair and impartial inquiry into complaints, in accordance with law and institutional policy.
  • Promote awareness and gender sensitivity on campus.

Scope of ICC

The Committee addresses complaints related to any unwelcome behavior of sexual nature, including but not limited to:

  • Unwelcome physical contact or advances.
  • Requests for sexual favours.
  • Sexually coloured comments, jokes, or gestures.
  • Any conduct that creates a hostile or intimidating environment.

Who Can File a Complaint

  • Students of Sunder T.T. College.
  • Teaching or non-teaching staff.
  • Any individual associated with College activities who faces harassment on campus or during college-related programs.

How to File a Complaint

Complaints may be submitted:

  • In writing to the Presiding Officer of the ICC.
  • By email to the ICC email address (when designated).
  • By submitting a written complaint to the College office marked to the ICC.
  • All complaints will be treated with strict confidentiality.

Inquiry Process

  • The ICC acknowledges receipt of the complaint.
  • A fair and time-bound inquiry is conducted as per UGC & legal guidelines.
  • Both complainant and respondent are given equal opportunity to present their case.
  • The Committee submits findings and recommendations to College authorities.
  • Appropriate action is taken in line with College statutory procedure.

Committee Composition

The ICC is typically composed of:

  • Presiding Officer – A senior woman faculty member.
  • Faculty Members – Teaching staff from various departments.
  • Non-Teaching Staff Member – Representative from administrative/ support staff.
  • External Member – A person from outside the College (legal expert / social worker).
  • Student Representatives – 1–2 senior students.

Confidentiality & Support

The College ensures that:

  • All complaints and proceedings remain strictly confidential.
  • No retaliation or victimization takes place against complainants or witnesses.
  • Support and relief measures are provided during the inquiry process.
